Follow-up Workshop on the Implementation of Regional Recommendations to Promote the Exchange of Information for the search of Missing Persons in the Migration Context
General Objective
Review the implementation of the Regional Recommendations to Promote the Exchange of Information for the Search for Missing Persons in the Context of Migration, adopted by the RCM, and in accordance with international human rights standards and the Global Compact on Migration.
Specific Objectives
- Expand information and data from IOM's Missing Migrants Project.
- To learn about the thematic report on missing migrants at the international level, by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Migrants, as a valid input to support the actions of the workshop and the implementation of the recommendations.
- To evaluate the degree of implementation of the Regional Recommendations to Promote the Exchange of Information for the Search for Missing Persons in the Context of Migration, adopted within the framework of the RCM, contrasting them with the findings and feedback obtained after the presentation of the Analysis Study of the Mexican Foreign Support Mechanism for Search and Investigation (MAEBI) in the countries where the Foundation has a presence.
- To learn about the progress made in the area of Missing Migrants in Panama, from the perspective of the Attorney General's Office of that country.
- To know the positions on the exchange of fingerprint information, an effort led by Honduras, with the recent accession of El Salvador.
Face to face workshop on shared aspects in the implementation of roadmaps regarding labor traceability, and the relevance of data tools on labor migration and labor inspection
General Objective
Review the status of the implementation of the traceability mechanisms defined in the roadmaps developed by the RCM Member Countries, at the July 2024 workshop, for the intra-regional migration corridors.
Specific Objectives
- Demonstrate the technical and operational progress of the roadmaps constructed for the intraregional migration corridors, identifying the factors that facilitate or limit progress in each case.
- Define specific actions for each traceability mechanism based on technical and operational progress.
- Promote the implementation of new strategic milestones related to traceability systems in the short and medium term.
Virtual Webinar on Migrant Integration
Objective:
Exchange of experiences between the South American Conference on Migration and the Regional Conference on Migration.
Specific Objectives
- Exchange experiences on migration integration between both conferences.
- Present strategic advances of the SACM: South American Plan 2035 and Annual Plan of the Integration Network.
- Reflect on the construction of a regional system of residence and full integration.
- Learn about good practices of the RCM in return and reintegration.
Training for media communication professionals, content and institutional developers
General Objective
To sensitize communicators with the knowledge and tools to inform about Early Childhood, Childhood and Adolescence (PINA) and women in the context of human mobility, in a way that safeguards their rights and promotes a fairer and more equitable social communication.
Specific Objectives
- Identify the factors that influence social communication that violates the rights of PINA and women in the context of human mobility.
- To analyze cases of communication that are detrimental to the human rights of PINA and women in the context of human mobility.
- To propose initiatives for the application of knowledge and tools at the local and regional level.
Webinar on Protection and Assistance to Migrant Children
This is one of the joint activities organized with the South American Conference on Migration (SACM), following the agreements reached during the meeting between both mechanisms held in October 2024. The event is designed for delegates from the Member Countries of the RCM and SACM dedicated to assist and to the protection of migrant children and adolescents, international organizations, United Nations agencies, and organized civil society.
Regional Workshop on Skills-Based Mobility Partnerships and Circular Labor Migration for the Benefit of All
Objectives:
- To discuss the potential benefits and challenges of skills-based mobility schemes in the Americas, considering the evidence and lessons learned within the continent and in other regions.
- To bring more alignment among regional, and national priorities on labour and skills mobility.
- To discuss possible work strands in support of the design and implementation of skills mobility partnerships that benefit all the parties involved in an equal manner.
Follow-up webinar to the Second Forum of Champion Countries: Presentation of roadmaps
Objective:
To present to Member Countries the prioritization of the roadmaps that will guide the work of the RCM in the medium term in order to advance the work of the RCM with the aim of achieving the objectives of the Global Compact on Migration (GCM).
Virtual Forum on Access to Justice for Migrants
General Objective:
To promote an exchange of promising practices, challenges, and actions to be implemented on access to justice for migrant victims of human rights abuses and violations, based on a dialogue with States, NHRIs, observer organizations, and civil organizations.
Specific objectives:
- Analyze the challenges and risks faced by migrants in transit and destination, including violence, discrimination, arbitrary detention, torture and ill-treatment, gender-based violence, exploitation, enforced disappearances, and denial of economic, social, and cultural rights.
- Explore protection mechanisms at the national and international levels that can be used to improve access to justice for migrants and their families.
- Identify and promote promising practices and concrete actions that can be implemented by States, civil society organizations, national human rights institutions, migrants, family members, and other stakeholders.
